Het huis ligt in het mediterrane deel van de Cévennes. Het is sfeervol ingericht met veel originele details. Het huis heeft geen tuin, maar een halfoverdekte binnenplaats, waar het zomers goed toeven is. Je kunt schitterende wandelingen maken in de onmiddellijke nabijheid. Een bezoek aan Nîmes en Montpellier is zeer de moeite waard. Er kan gezwommen worden in de rivier (Herault) op 15 min. Loopafstand. In het café in het dorp zelf is een klein assortiment levensmiddelen te koop en elke morgen vers brood. Restaurantjes zijn er in de buurt in overvloed en in allerlei prijsklassen.

Het huis bestaat uit 4 verdiepingen. Op de onderste etage bevinden zich de volledig ingerichte keuken en de badkamer met toilet.

Daarboven is de woonkamer met zithoek en eettafel, daar weer boven de slaapkamer en tenslotte een slaapzolder met 3 bedden, waarvan één twijfelaar.

Het huis is zeer sfeervol ingericht met originele Franse details, zoals ijzeren spijlenbedden, Cevenolse eettafel met boerenstoelen, Franse terrasstoeltjes en kleine antiekverzamelingen.

Het comfort is echter ook niet vergeten. In de zithoek vind je een lekkere bank om op te (liggen) lezen! Op de ouderslaapkamer staat een kinderbedje en er is een kinderstoel. De trap naar de keuken kan beveiligd worden met een traphekje.

Het huis staat op het zuiden en is zeer zonnig. Achter is een halfoverdekte binnenplaats met tafel en stoelen, barbecue en klein aanrechtje met kraan. Heerlijk om te zitten lezen of te eten, zelfs als het eens regent.

Voor een picknick elders, bijv in de kasteeltuin, staat een 4-persoons picknickmand klaar

Het dorp ligt net buiten het nationaal park van de Cevennen. Daar vind je de Mont Aigoual, 1567 meter hoog. ’s Winters is er een klein skigebied met afdalingen en langlaufcircuits.

De Herault is op 2 km afstand en biedt veel zwemmogelijkheden. In het dorp is een park rond het château, met daarin voetbaldoelen, een tafeltennistafel, een klein speeltuintje voor jonge kinderen en picknicktafels. Het zwembad bevindt zich daar ook. Het is alleen enkele weken in juli en augustus open en er is goed toezicht.

Nîmes en Montpellier liggen elk op ong. één uur rijden en zijn een bezoek meer dan waard. Sète, een gezellig havenplaatsje, ligt iets verder weg, evenals de Camargue, een bijzonder natuurgebied met wilde stieren en paarden, en roze flamingo”s.

Dichterbij zijn kleinere plaatsjes met gezellige week- en brocantemarkten.

We hebben veel tijd en liefde gestoken in het huis om het er zo sfeervol en zo Frans mogelijk te laten uitzien. We rekenen erop dat er respectvol met huis en inboedel wordt omgegaan.

Aankomsttijd: in principe op zaterdag, na 15.00 uur. Als u veel later zult aankomen, weten we dat graag van tevoren.

Vertrektijd: ook op zaterdag, vóór 12.00 uur

No matter what kind of holiday maker you are, there is something to do for everyone.

Sporting activities: water sport activities: canoeing and swimming. In the air: parasailing. In the mountains: descend with mountain bikes, even skiing in winter. 

In nature: walks, from short (approx. one hour) to day trips. Many visitors like to follow in the steps of Robert Louis Stevenson who, while visiting in 1878 to alleviate his tuberculosis, hiked through the area with a donkey

. 
Culture: visit cities like Montpellier, Nîmes, Arles, Sete, Pezenas, Lodève and more. All within daytrip distance! 

Laze about: reading, summers in the courtyard or in the Castle Garden. Cool down in the Herault river, or, in July and August, in the swimming pool in St André. Visit one of the many bustling authentic local markets or simply people watch over a drink from a terrace café. 

Culinary delights: good food in restaurants, to be found  in all price ranges in the vicinity. Visit local wine producers, sample the produce and stock up the cellar. 

If you like, you can dine on our terrace overlooking the the tree clad hills and valleys on the day of arrival. Price: 15 euros per person for adults, children between 2 and 12 years 8.50 euros.  Including wine and a cup of coffee afterwards. If you are interested, please specify this on the application form. We will then send you the menu!

The house is situated on the outskirts of St. Andre de Majencoules in the Mediterranean part of the Cevennes. It has a cozy feeling and is decorated with many original features. The house has no garden, but there is a half covered courtyard, which can bring welcome relief from the Summers sun. If you want to sit under the trees, the park around the "castle", about 200 meters away, will offer a good alternative. You can take beautiful walks in the immediate vicinity. A leaflet with marked trails is located in the house. Within 10 and 15 km.there are towns with lovely French markets and flea markets. A visit to Nimes and Montpellier is very worthwhile. You can swim in the river (Hérault), 15 min walking distance and during July and August in the swimming pool in the village. The Mediterranean is about an hours drive away. 

The Herault offers excellent opportunities for canoeing. 

In the cafe in the village they sell a small selection of food and fresh bread every morning. In the summer they also sell vegetables like courgettes, tomatoes, onions, etc. Supermarket (and laundry) approximately 10 km away. 

Ganges and Le Vigan are villages  in close proximity with lively weekly markets, Ganges on Fridays and in Le Vigan on Saturdays. 

The market in Valleraugue, on Wednesday mornings, is also a  lot of fun in high season.

In general, the markets close at around 12 noon! 

Restaurants are in abundance nearby and in all price ranges. 

For wine lovers there are many caves in the vicinity you can visit. 

Interior: 

The house consists of 4 floors. The lower floor has a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with toilet 

Above that is the living room with seating area and dining table, above that the master bedroom and finally a sleeping loft with 3 beds, of which one is a small double bed.

The house is tastefully decorated with original French details, such as iron beds, Cevenol dining table with farmhouse chairs, French patio chairs and small antique collection. 

Comfort however is not forgotten. In the seating area you will find a nice couch to sit(lie) and read on! In the master bedroom there is a cot and a highchair available. The stairs to the kitchen can be protected with an approved gate. 

There is a radio / cd player with some CDs. There is also a DVD player. (It is not possible to watch TV.) DVDs can be borrowed from us. 

The house is south facing and very sunny. At the back is a half covered courtyard with table and chairs, barbecue and a small sink with tap. Lovely to sit and read or eat, even if it rains. 

For a picnic elsewhere, eg in the castle, there is a picnic basket for 4-persons at the ready.
